LGV and PCV Training

Before starting training on any LGV (lorry) or PCV (bus) you must first apply for the appropriate provisional licence. The minimum age for training is normally over 21 for LGV and over 18 for bus.

You will need a D2 (driving licence application) form, and will need to specify which lisence you are applying for. LGV is category C and PCV is category D. You also need a D4 (medical) form, which is taken to a doctor for completion. There is a charge for this service which varies from doctor to doctor.

Send the completed forms and your current driving licence to : DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1BR

When your driving licence is returned it will show the provisional entitlement. You can now take the Driving Theory Test.

On receipt of your provisional licence you can also arrange an Assessment Drive with us, which will last for about an hour. We use information from the assessment to put together a personal training package for you.

It is important that you study, not only to pass your test but also to become a better driver. The theory test requires you to have specific knowledge regarding the category vehicle being tested, as well as questions that apply to all road users. We have recommended books available in our offices for you to borrow.

Find a course offering a one to one basis and tailored specifically for you.
